Xiaomi will be introducing a new Redmi Pad 5G tablet device on April 27th. While the company has yet to make an official announcement the number of reports and data released by a leaked poster all reinforce this.
Furthermore we do know that Xiaomi will be launching its new MIUI 12 and Mi 10 Youth model on April 27th so it’s not that much of a stretch to assume the Redmi Pad 5G will be launched that same day. Tablets in recent years have been struggling due to a lack of purpose so it’s not surprising for the company to not make a formal announcement.
The device is said to come with a 48MP lens with it’s AI enhanced images (Google dubs this computational photography for their devices). There will also be four speakers for the device (where most of the competition tends to only have two).
The device will be powered by the Snapdragon 765G and come in at a cost of 1999 yuan or roughly $282.
At first glance these speaks and price are impressive a 90Hz screen and 30W fast charging could give it a really smooth user experience and at such a low price it’s pretty decent.
Does It Really Matter?
Part of the issue with this device isn’t it lacking specs or 5G it’s a lack of purpose. Tablet’s have struggled with having a purpose outside of being larger. Apple’s recent attempt at resolving that has boiled down to making it a worse version of a Macbook while Samsung has done nothing at all.
The inclusion of 5G will likely have a minimal impact on sales but the fact you can get it for such a low price makes some of the competition look fairly dated which is something Xiaomi has always delivered value.
What are your thoughts on the Redmi Pad 5G is it worth the price tag would you use it over the competition given the option let me know in the comments below!
