WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow users to send disappearing messages. WhatsApp previously allowed messages to be deleted from a conversation. But now, the new self-destruct feature will automatically delete the message after a set period of time.

The latest version of WhatsApp beta on Android (V2.19.275) offered traces of this new feature which led to speculation that WhatsApp made add this feature in the near future.

WABetaInfo stated that WhatsApp is actively working on this new feature and that the company is trying to bring the new feature to users. The website stated the following.

as the name suggests any message eligible to be disappeared will be automatically deleted from the chat!

The user will effectively be able to mark the the chat as disappeared by enabling the option “Disappearing messages” in the Group Info menu. Competitor Telegram also has a similar feature.
