This year we are going to see more AR games and while Pokemon Go has had its moment of the spotlight the company wants to revive that. While we are expecting a new Harry Potter AR game, Pokemon Go appears far from finished.
Niantic, the company behind the Pokemon GO has announced that its spiritual successor will be an AR Harry Potter game dubbed Wizards Unite. Which while interesting leaves many fans what is to happen to Pokemon GO. The good news is the company is still going to keep support and updating Pokemon GO.
The company confirmed: Harry Potter Wizards Unite will arrive in the second half of the year. In an interview offered to the Financial Times medium, John Hanke, CEO of Niantic, has revealed that the game set in the magical universe created by JK Rowling is scheduled for the second half of this year 2018. It has also been confirmed that it has been carried out a collaboration with Portkey Games, a Warner Bros brand, to adapt the Harry Potter story to a title based on augmented reality.
Hanke also stated that since the launch of Pokemon GO in 2016 the company has learned and evolved enough to bring another franchise and game under its belt in the form of Harry Potter. Wizards Unite is going to resolve a lot of the issues that Pokemon GO experienced at its launch including most notably its server issues.
In regards to Pokemon GO, the company announced that it will arrive in China later this year and that it’s going to continue updating and improving the game. So continuing to play Pokemon GO can be a good way to kill time until the arrival of the Harry Potter-themed title.
