OPPO, a Taiwanese technology firm that has released several smartphones and other smart devices, announced that the OPPO A83 was launched in China.
The showcase for the devices shows a similar design choice (rounded corners, lack of a home button, etc). The only major and annoying difference is the absence of a fingerprint scanner in the A83. The company opted to use Face Unlock which has been a technology riddled with issues in recent times and many companies have been laughed at over how easy it is to overcome. However, the company claims that with this feature it takes 0.18 seconds to unlock the phone making it one of the fastest unlocking times of any smartphones. The company also stated that it
The phone comes with a metal back panel as opposed to plastic, has rounded corners and edges to make the phone easier and smoother to handle.
The device comes with a 5.7-inch HD+ display, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. It also comes with a 2.5GHZ octa-core processor which is likely to be HelioP23 by the company would not reveal the brand type of the processor.
The rear camera is 13MP but the company claims that it has the ability to shoot up to 50MP by “stitching several shots together” which is interesting but needs to be tested. In addition, the front-facing camera comes in at about 8MP with as the company has dubbed “AI beauty mode” which is like real-time photoshop.
