It’s no secret that Pixel 4 is right around the corner and Google has made it known that it has the smartest virtual assistant technology. There is a new batch of rumors regarding a next-generation Assistant that was released due to leaked internal Pixel 4 demo videos.
Google has previously teased the new Google Assistant at it’s I/O event back in May of this year. It detailed its new Motion Sense gesture controls however this newly leaked footage is our first look at the new assistant in action.
Google Assistant has always been really easy to open with a simple command such as “Hey Google” the assistant will open. However, on the Pixel 2 model, Google introduced a squeeze gesture when you squeezed the size of your phone it would open the assistant. Google is reportedly working on a raise to talk feature. This feature would work by you lifting the phone and assistant already being open for you to speak to it.
For Motion Sense 9to5 Google shared users a video answering their phone, switching music tracks, and even turning off their alarm with a wave of their hand. All of these were features that Google’s confirmed which seems to give this leak a load more credibility. The feature will be powered by Project Soli which is a project Google has been developing that uses a radar sensor to track nearby movement.
While the upgrades to Google Assistant are nothing short of amazing and truly a bit market-leading we are still missing one important feature. Face Unlocking, Windows has Hello and Apple has Face ID the Pixel Phone as it stands we don’t have any confirmation we can expect native face unlocking in the latest pixel device. However, we will need to wait for the official unveiling to see if Google has additional tricks up their sleeves.
